If you've ever listened to a Kanye West fashion rant — any of them, take your pick — you've wondered what's going on at the other end of the phone. From Ikea to the Gap to Hermès, how do these brand react to the star's design aspirations?
Well now we know.
After West mentioned on The Ellen Degeneres Show that he rang up the head of Payless ShoeSource to say that he wanted to work on a design collaboration, Racked contacted Payless to see if the brand had a statement about its interaction with Kanye.
"We can confirm that Kanye reached out and had a phone conversation with Payless CEO, Paul Jones," a Payless representative wrote via email to Racked.
Payless declined to comment beyond confirming that this conversation took place, so we can only imagine how the call went. But it could very well be the first step toward a Yeezy x Payless collaboration. Does this mean that Kanye is right about everything?
