Met Gala Red Carpet: Every Look from the Biggest Night in Fashion

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Met Gala is tonight! THE MET GALA IS TONIGHT! Fashion prom, the Super Bowl of the fashion industry, a vehicle for Anna Wintour's seating chart wizardry — whatever you want to call it, the most interesting red carpet of the entire year is currently underway, and we're here to document it all.

Tonight's theme? Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, in keeping with the Costume Institute's beautiful spring exhibit that explores both hand- and machine-made design. Because it's tradition to dress in a way that reflects each year's theme, expect gowns that incorporate both futuristic techniques, like laser cutting, as well as old-fashioned methods, like embroidery and hand-applied lace.

Right now, tons of celebrities are converging at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, from the evening's co-host Taylor Swift to (rumored performer!) Beyoncé, straight off of her number-one visual album Lemonade.

Other reported attendees include a few select members of the Kardasho-Jenner clan (Kim, Kris, Kendall, and Kylie), Lupita Nyong'o, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander, Amy Schumer, Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and so, so many more. Scroll through the gallery above to see all of the evening's best looks, and who's responsible for all those dresses.
