Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West Wore Matching Balmain to the Met Gala

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West both wore Balmain to the 2016 Met Gala, which isn't a surprise. Putting aside the fact that the entire Kardashian-Jenner-West clan wears Balmain constantly (and that Kylie wore Balmain to the Met Gala too), Kim tagged Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing yesterday in an Instagram post showing her dress prep.

What is surprising is Kim and Kanye's kind-of-freaky beauty looks. Kim paired her shiny long-sleeve Balmain gown with uncharacteristically washed-out brows and a nude lip, and for some unknown reason, Kanye is wearing blue-grey contacts. Also ripped jeans. The embellished jacket dresses them up, to be fair.

Last year, Kim embraced the naked-dress trend with a Cher-inspired Roberto Cavalli gown that apparently required back contouring (seriously). The year before, she went with a strapless blue Lanvin.

However, nothing could ever top the completely covered-up Givenchy floral number with built-in gloves Kardashian wore in 2013 while pregnant with daughter North. It's the original dress that inspired a thousand memes (that is, until Rihanna's yellow Guao Pei dress came along last year). Kim even repurposed the look this past year — as a Halloween costume. "Still fits..." she wrote as the photo's caption.

And here's close-up of Kim's ear cuff:
