Bath & Body Works just couldn't wait for Sun-Ripened Raspberry.
For the second year in a row, the mall beauty brand is relaunching some of its most memorable fragrances from the '90s and '00s as part of its #FlashbackFragrances campaign. All eight returning fragrances will be on sale from June 6th through July 3rd at Bath & Body Works locations and online.
But Sun-Ripened Raspberry, which first launched in 1996, is coming out of retirement early and is available today, May 20th.

The strategy to bring back the old favorites has been a hit: Parent company L Brands just reported in its quarterly earnings call that total sales at Bath & Body Works jumped 7.6% to $660.2 million, with a 6% rise in comparable sales.
Besides Sun-Ripened Raspberry, the old-school scents returning this year include Country Apple, Cucumber Melon, Freesia, Brown Sugar & Fig, Mango Mandarin, Cotton Blossom, and Peony.
Needless to say, people having been waiting a while for this:

The pink raspberry scent holds a special place in some of our hearts, evoking all sorts of specific youthful memories. After all, smell and memory are said to be intrinsically linked. Here are some of the things a fresh bottle of Sun-Ripened Raspberry may evoke today, according to Racked and Vox editors:
"The bathroom at a 7th grade dance, everyone crying."
"Cheerleading practice."
"Junior high locker room!"
"Going to see Wayne’s World 2 with my summer camp boyfriend."
"My sleepover overnight bag."
"A babysitter who was into casting spells and also introduced me to Lil' Kim."
"The strawberry and champagne Victoria's Secret spray I would soak my 9th grade boyfriend's scarf in when I borrowed it (and then pretended like I didn’t)."
"My childhood bedroom!!!! Also trips to the mall in middle school."
"Going to the mall with my friends and sniffing all the scents."
"Sun-Ripened Raspberry will always remind me of my mom. While I was wearing Cucumber Melon and Country Apple and the other, more juvenile scents, she was into Sun-Ripened Raspberry, which I considered to be a smell that was a little too mature for me."
Or:
"I have no memories of this scent, am I kicked out of girlhood?"
