Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of one Mr. Johnny Depp and Ms. Vanessa Paradis, was always destined for success in the entertainment industry, but it's startling nonetheless how quickly she's achieving that. Less than a year after she landed a Chanel eyewear campaign, the 16-year-old has scored another gig with the brand: fronting its new Chanel No. 5 L'Eau fragrance.
The brand announced the news on Instagram on Monday morning. Depp has developed a close relationship with Chanel over the last year, wearing Karl Lagerfeld's designs to this month's Cannes Film Festival (which she attended for her film The Dancer), to the Met Gala, and to the house's own fashion shows. It's sort of like getting offered an internship by your parents' family friends — Paradis, you may recall, has modeled for Chanel more than once — except you're working at a beauty campaign pay grade and have better cheekbones than any teenager should hope for. Also, your credentials including shooting for V, Love, and i-D, instead of playing JV volleyball and getting a B in sophomore chemistry.
So, it's a pretty singular experience. Regardless, we're looking forward to seeing the fruits of this casting.
