Why Do We Only Feel at Peace When Gwen Stefani Wears Red Lipstick?

Gwen Stefani arrived at the Billboard Music Awards last night with a new face. Her makeup artist tried to explain it, but it did not quell the inner panic bubbling up with each glance at this strange visage. If you're a celebrity who is committed to One Look, a departure from that One Look is anxiety-inducing for the millions watching from afar. We now know for certain that it's deeply upsetting to see Gwen with anything other than winged eyeliner and red lipstick.

Thankfully, Helen Rosner — concerned citizen, humanitarian, and Eater executive editor — has righted the wrong that neutral-toned lip gloss hath wrought. She put Gwen's face back together again with a little Photoshop and a lot of love, so we may all be at peace once again:
