When the Queen throws a garden party, you arrive ready to garden and ready to party. For the annual outdoor fête on the terrace of Buckingham Palace, Will and Kate put on their second-most royal-looking clothes (the first being their wedding outfits), which involved fascinators, coat tails, and top hats.
But just how fancy is this event? If we're going by sheer amount of cake being served, think of it this way: According to the Daily Mail, the menu consists of 27,000 teas, 20,000 sandwiches, and 20,000 cake slices, and we're pretty sure they mean the nice kind of cake, and not, like, Funfetti.
Fittingly for the occasion, Kate repeated the Alexander McQueen ruffle skirt suit she wore to Prince George's christening, along with a Jane Taylor fascinator. Meanwhile, Prince William put on the fanciest item of clothing in existence, the top hat:

Queen Elizabeth was dressed in a festive robin's egg blue skirt suit by Stewart Parvin, according to the Daily Mail, and a matching hat:

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie were also in attendance. The latter wore an Alice + Olivia skirt, which doesn't appear to be available online, and a beret-shaped fascinator:

No word on what Prince George and Princess Charlotte were doing at the time, but chances are it involves fancy, baby-sized hats.
