Want to see a video of Pharrell Williams goofing around with the master craftsmen employed by Chanel? Sure, why not, it's Friday. Chanel just posted a short video of Pharrell's field trip to visit with the embroiderers, pleaters, and hat makers behind Chanel’s Métiers d'art Paris 2015/16 collection. It's worth a view just to see how excited he is about it all.
Pharrell has been part of the Chanel universe for years, and he's described in the copy of the video as "a close friend of the House of CHANEL and personal friend of Karl Lagerfeld." The producer/singer/designer/mogul sat front row at Chanel's runway show in March, and he appeared in a Chanel fashion film with Cara Delevingne in 2014.
In this new video, it kind of looks like Pharrell (who co-owns G-Star Raw) is giving some design input, based on how studiously he's interacting with the artisans. At one point, he says "Great work," and gives someone a thumbs up.
But rest assured, Pharrell was there as strictly an onlooker. A Chanel rep told Racked: "Pharrell did not design the collection. The video is a look at Pharrell as he spent the day at the various workshops discovering the creation of the Métiers d'art Paris in Rome Collection."
