We've been wearing Docs with dresses since middle school, but last night's Met Gala really took the look up a notch. From Selena Gomez's white-laced, Louis Vuitton booties to Lady Gaga's dizzyingly high platform pair, it seemed like every other belle was wearing combat boots to the ball.

The Louis Vuitton gang, in particular, was pushing the rocker chick thing. The aforementioned Gomez, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Connelly, Grimes, and Alicia Vikander all paired their Nicolas Ghesquiere designed dresses with work-ready boots; there were also punky boots peeking out beneath the slit of Kristen Stewart's Chanel look.

Love it or hate it, the high heel boot is a practical option for an all-night event — you can bet Alicia Vikander did significantly more dancing in her laced up LV booties than anyone else in their stilettos. Whether you want to wear a pair to your next formal party or, more realistically, your next trip to the grocery store, we rounded up seven high heel combat and hiking boots so you can steal the look.
