Kim Kardashian Got to Test Out the Marilyn Monroe Snapchat Filter First, Obviously

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Great news! You might be able to shave a few minutes off your morning routine today, because Snapchat has a new filter that will effectively glam up your makeup-free face. In honor of Marilyn Monroe's would-be 90th birthday, you can now wear her signature platinum bob, winged eyeliner, red lipstick, and beauty mark with the touch of a button.

Fittingly, our generation's Marilyn was the first to test it out. Yesterday, Kim Kardashian-West visited the Snapchat headquarters, where she helpfully modeled the CGI wig and makeup for the rest of us. Though she announces that it's "only for her" in the video below, today, all Snapchat users can access it.

General warning: The wig takes a little getting used to, and also kind of makes you look like Martha Washington. Sext accordingly.
