Blake Lively has gone gentle into that good night, sartorially speaking. Like so many middle-school-dance-going, recently-bat-mitzvah'd girls before her, Blake styled a hoodie over a cocktail dress.
The occasion was an interview with Sway Calloway on his radio show Shade 45, and during their chat, Blake joked that it's fine that she's "overdressed" because it's radio and no one will see (lol, we see EVERYTHING). She also explained the suitcase with "all her stuff" didn't show up with the airplane. "Luckily I had a feather sequined crystal number with a cashmere sweatshirt," she told Sway. Very lucky indeed!
Blake, who takes promotional appearances very seriously in terms of clothing, is in full press tour mode for The Shallows. She's only managed to wear seven outfits since Monday, which is straight slacking for the woman who once wore 14 outfits in 48 hours.
Also of note: During the interview (at the 21:30 mark, to be exact), Blake addressed that "Oakland booty" rap lyric she posted on Instagram during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. "Sir Mix-A-Lot actually said a really nice thing," the actress noted. "He was defensive and kind because it's just about celebrating women's bodies and that's what I was doing. I never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings or upset anyone. I was celebrating my body. It's nice to have a nice curve and not look like you're starving to death."
She also clarified that she is not as pretty as she appears:
What I look like on a red carpet is not what I look like in real life. Even in that dress, I was wearing a great, tiny corset that someone has cinched me in within an inch of my life. It's the most favorable version. So when you look in the mirror at home and you don't look like that, you think, 'Well, why do those people look like that?' But when I go home and take off that dress and look in the mirror, I don't look like that either. It's fun to dress up and look good on red carpet but it's not representative of real life.
And with that, we can all go watch Blake get hunted by a shark in the middle of the ocean in peace.
