Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Store buyers have a finger on the pulse of fashion like no one else. It’s their job to know what we want to wear, what we should be wearing, and what we’ll want to wear next. They keep a close eye on the current trends while always looking out for emerging ones, and this knowledge informs the clothing that hit the racks each season. So if you want to stay up on the next big thing, discover up-and-coming labels, or just generally know what’s going to be cool next season before anyone else, why not go straight to the source?
We did a little social media stalking to find the Instagram accounts for buyers and shop owners at several of our favorite stores and indie boutiques. From the associate buyer for Brooklyn cool-girl favorite Bird to the buying director of Opening Ceremony, you’re going to want to hit follow on these accounts immediately!
