Famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin is slowly but surely expanding into beauty. First, there was $50 nail polish, then $90 lipstick, and the brand just announced that an $85 high-shine, full-coverage lip lacquer is coming in July.
It's called "Loubilaque," and it is a perfect example of lip gloss's 2016 reinvention. A press release from Christian Louboutin promises that the product isn't sticky, and that it will be able to deliver both color and shine. Loubilaque will be available in eight shades, ranging from nudes to the brand's patented Rouge Louboutin.
Like all the brand's ornate beauty products, it's an objet d'art and not just a lip lacquer. Loubilaque's bottle is carved with an intricate mermaid tail pattern and the overall effect looks sort of like the most glamorous pine cone ever.
It's all packaged in a jewelry box, and like the other lipsticks, the bottle could be worn as a necklace. That would definitely be a statement necklace. Look for Loubilaque on Christian Louboutin's web site and in select CL stores on July 1st.
