Yesterday, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi was photographed walking around in New York City with her daughter Krishna. It was very cute! Sadly, however, the only emotion I can feel while staring at it is horrific emotional distress, because I can’t tell whether Lakshmi is wearing overalls or a denim jumpsuit.
Because really, the item of clothing could be qualified as both. Though their designer, Stella McCartney, refers to them specifically as overalls, I’m not entirely convinced.
Here they are in full, for reference:

At first glance, "overalls" might be the most obvious descriptor thanks to their overall-esque snap buttons. But on a closer look, there’s one main difference.
Consider the amount of fabric between the front and the back torso. Most overalls are cut similarly to pinafores and aprons, thereby requiring a shirt underneath, unless the wearer is a rather daredevilish side boob aficionado.
Here is a pair of overalls:

And here is a denim jumpsuit:

But wait, are these overalls because it's pinafore-style, or is it a jumpsuit because there aren't strap snaps?

And what the hell are these?

Don't even get me started on these.

Nothing makes sense anymore. Also, weirdly I now want all of them?
