Today — July 6th, 2016 — is a special day indeed. It may not be as heavily hashtagged or Instagrammed as the Fourth of July, but it marks the day Kate Middleton finally embraced the season’s most ubiquitous trend: the off-the-shoulder neckline.
Earlier today, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a $2,385 long-sleeved white knit dress by Brazilian designer Barbara Casasola — which is now sold out, obviously — to present the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2016 prize at the Natural History Museum in London today. She kept it simple in the accessories department, adding only a matching white clutch and a pair of pinky-peach Schutz sandals (also sold out) with a serious heel.

It’s worth noting that while this is the first time Kate’s committed to an off-the-shoulder dress, she’s flirted with the style before. Last month, she wore a blue "cold shoulder" Roland Mouret gown with cutouts, which basically served as training wheels for her look today. We’re glad she went for it — Kate’s Barbara Casasola dress is simple and sleek, and that collarbone-framing cut really is a great canvas for her perfect, hatred-inducing hair.
