The story of how MAC’s Selena collection came to be is a tale of perseverance and fandom 20 years in the making. Last year, fans lobbied the cosmetics company — and even started a Change.org petition — to produce a collection honoring the late, beloved Mexican-American singer, who was murdered in 1995. MAC listened, and now the collection is on the cusp of launching.
If internet excitement is anything to go on, it’s going to sell out quickly. Here’s everything you need to know to shop it.
The Collection
In total, the Selena collection is composed of 13 pieces. There are three lipsticks, each for $18: Dreaming of You, a wine matte; Como La Flor, a cherry red with a smooth, semi-matte finish; and Amor Prohibido, a pinkish-brown glaze finish.
There are five eye shadow singles, for $17 each: Is It the Beat, a matte black; No Me Queda Mas, a warm brown matte; Missing My Baby, a matte pink beige; Fotos y Recuerdos, a satin pink; and Selena, a pearlized violet.
There’s a blush duo called Techno Cumbia ($29) that includes a bronzer and a matte pink blush, and an online-only Lipglass ($17) called Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, which MAC describes as “bubblegum pink with silver pearl.”
The collection is rounded out by a liquid eye liner ($21) in Boot Black (a pre-existing shade), Opulash Mascara ($18) in black, and a powder brush ($35).

What to Snag
Selena was known for her signature red lipstick, and the two reds included in this collection are very good. Como La Flor is an orangey red and Dreaming of You is a perfect dark wine shade. (Check out our FB live below to see what they look like on humans.) The blush/bronzer duo will also likely go quickly, if only because it’s stamped with the word “Selena” directly on the powder.
Important Dates
September 28th: If you’re a MAC Select Obsessed or Devoted member (meaning you’re in one of the top two tiers of MAC’s loyalty program), you’ll get early access to shop the collection in a little under two weeks.

October 6th: The collection hits MAC stores and will be available through November 17th, or whenever it sells out. ¡Buena suerte!
