Despite the presidential election results, 2016 was an undeniably great year for Hillary Clinton merch. Designers like Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch offered wearable ways to support the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, while unofficial merch like I Feel Like Hillz’s Kanye-inspired graphic tees and Base DTLA’s Rihanna-approved shirt also proved popular.
Now, nearly a year after his rise, it’s Bernie Sanders’s turn. On Wednesday morning, Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia paid tribute to the presidential hopeful in his fall 2017 menswear collection, sending out tees, jackets, and blanket scarves printed with Sanders’s unmistakeable red-and-blue campaign logo (with “Balenciaga” in place of the candidate’s name, of course).
For what it’s worth, you can already pick up Bernie Sanders 2020 campaign merch at Amazon, Etsy, and eBay for way less than Demna’s versions (we presume).
Still, count on seeing at least a few “Bernlenciaga” originals on editors at New York Fashion Week next month.
Update: As it turns out, Balenciaga models were sent down the runway with nail art that matched their Bernie Sanders-inspired looks. Check it out!
