Big-boobed girls share a bond.
Well, two bonds. There is the bond of life experience, of having to forgo unflattering middle school trends like babydoll tops and polo shirts, of desperately trying to find bathing suits that don’t make you look like a porn star, of constantly avoiding men’s leery stares.
Then there is the bond of, well, actual bondage: taking thick stretchy fabric and strapping your boobs down before exercising.
Sports bras for big chests are no joke — or at least they shouldn’t be. Delicate shoulder straps and thin fabric do little to hold big breasts in when the burpees and jump-squats start.
That’s why the Juno Sports Bra by Brooks (formerly known as Moving Comfort) is so excellent for big-chested exercisers: It’s got thick shoulder straps that are wide and cushiony; a thick band of stretchy-but-tough fabric under the cups; and a back with both a racerback and a regular hook-and-eye bra closure, so you’re really strapped in. The cups are only slightly molded — just enough so your boobs stay in place without side-to-side movement, but not so separate that they’re not compressed securely against your chest.
Admittedly, this bra has one drawback: The straps are adjustable by Velcro, meaning after too many months of wear-and-tear, they’re susceptible to coming loose while working out.
But by that point, that’s probably a sign you should replace it anyway — or you can do like I do and just reinforce it with a massive safety pin and call it a day.
