In the midst of an extremely sobering day, one good thing has happened, and like all good things, it revolves around people being wrong on the internet about something that doesn’t really matter that much.
During this morning’s Inauguration Day events, people were quick to draw a link between Melania Trump’s pale blue Ralph Lauren ensemble and the coat Jackie Kennedy wore during her own husband’s inauguration in 1961. This was very clearly a studied choice, as Trump has sought to be considered a successor to JFK long before he even secured the Republican nomination.
But when the creatively inclined citizens of Twitter attempted to illustrate this likeness, they made a very silly mistake: They chose a photo of Melania Trump next to a photo of Katie Holmes in costume for her role in the 2011 Reelz miniseries The Kennedys.
Behold the following beautiful tweets:

And finally, the most beautiful one of all, which is a photo of Melania Trump next to a person whom I’m 70 percent sure is Lana Del Rey:

It is unclear whether or not this person is joking, but for the sake of my own delight she is most definitely not.
To be fair, this particular photo of Katie Holmes is as close as any actress (and there have been nine of them) has come to looking like Jackie Kennedy, which is a difficult thing to do. I recently watched the entirety of Jackie — which, let me tell you, was no easy feat — just to see Natalie Portman’s Jackie impression, and it is clear that even if you get the voice down, it is physically impossible to replicate her specific face shape. A couple of well-placed shadows on Katie Holmes’ eyes is the best I’ve seen.
Anyway, I think the lesson here is that maybe we should stop making meandering and depressing movies about Jackie Kennedy. For me, and also for the sake of a certain segment of the internet.
