It wasn’t so long ago that faux fur was still actively trying to shake all of its not-so-great stigmas. Too tacky, too cheap-looking, poor quality — there were rarely many options, and the ones that did exist just weren’t good.
But thanks to improved fabrications and a push from powerhouse labels like Stella McCartney and Calvin Klein — and, as of last week, Gucci — denouncing real fur in their own collections, the soft, fuzzy stuff is even more sought-after than the real deal.
While I wish the use of faux fur versus real was the only thing holding me back from a Gucci coat (rather than the fact that I can’t even afford, like, a belt), there are plenty of other, more realistic options out there.
The usual fast-fashion spots, like Topshop and & Other Stories (and even Old Navy), have some great faux-fur coats this season that will feel like a steal given the quality. If you have a little bit more room in your budget to play around, contemporary lines like Shrimps and Zadig & Voltaire have you covered. Check out these and more, starting at $70, below.
