Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
I’m grateful to be able to wear whatever I want to work nowadays, but it wasn’t always that way for me, and for a lot of people, it’s just not a reality at all.
Especially when conforming to a business-casual dress code, it’s easy to grab the same white or black button-down shirt every day of the week, leaving you to forget what your actual style even is. While I’d never advise combating the monotonous uniform with something wildly over-the-top, there’s no harm in picking up a few slightly more exciting options that both you and HR can be happy with.
Whether it’s a subtle pattern, bell sleeve, or frill around the collar, there are plenty of details that can make any old blouse or button-down feel special. Bonus: When Saturday rolls around, they’ll look just as cute tucked into a pair of jeans. Check out our favorite options below, starting at $50.
