Growing up in rural China, DJ Alice Longyu Gao wasn’t even allowed to wear jeans. Now the DJ/creative director boasts an epic and colorful wardrobe, accumulated over the course of her annual shopping trips to Tokyo’s Harajuku district.

You can find her spinning records at fashion parties in candy-colored tutus and bows, platform shoes, and unicorn makeup. What she really wants, though, is to show off her looks on TV, as a talkshow host. Find out how she got here, and how she’ll get there, above.
