Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
From revealing unethical corporate practices to charting the retail apocalypse and, more recently, looking into sexual harassment and assault in the fashion industry, reader tips have always powered Racked’s reporting. We want to make it even easier — and safer — for you to pass on intel you have, especially any particularly sensitive information you want to share anonymously.
Here’s how to securely share information with Racked’s editors and reporters.
Tipline
You can always contact us through our tipline using this form or emailing us directly at tips@racked.com. While your contact information will be visible to us, Racked’s policy is to grant anonymity to sources we trust to be credible and reliable.
You may also reach out to reporters and editors directly using the email addresses on their profile pages. Should you prefer to talk by phone, you may request a phone call via email.
Signal
You can also send tips using the Signal app, which encrypts text messages and phone calls. Download the app here, then call or text Racked within the app at 646-670-6148.
SecureDrop
The most secure way to send Racked documents is by using SecureDrop. It’s accessible only through the Tor Browser; download the browser, then reach our SecureDrop instance by pasting http://2xat73hlwcpwo2zy.onion into the browser’s address bar. After submitting documents, you will be given a password that allows you to check for responses at the same address.
