Instagram has proven itself useful for a lot of things, this we know. From everyday outfit inspiration and mood-boarding to checking up 34 weeks back on people you haven’t spoken to since college, you can do all of it in the palm of your hand thanks to Instagram.

But one of our favorite things to do on the app is shop, specifically at vintage stores. The one-of-a-kind nature of vintage lends itself well to the immediacy of the app, and a whole generation of vintage and secondhand stores — even ones with existing brick-and-mortar locations — have transferred their retail game to Instagram.

In this little world where vintage and technology overlap, shoppers and curious followers from all over can browse the best of what any boutique has to offer without having to dig through mountains of stuff at an actual store. See something you like? Most shops allow you to buy right there, claiming the item through comment or direct message.

For your browsing pleasure, we’ve rounded up ten of our vintage favorite shops on Instagram.

FriendsNYC

This is the perfect place to come up on those rare band and sweet slogan T-shirts. Another highlight is how the store regularly shows you how to get current runway looks for less with what it currently has in stock, like this Calvin Klein Canadian tuxedo situation, because why not?

I Am That Shop

Portland’s I Am That Shop brings you secondhand picks for the editorially inclined. Here, you’ll find really special pieces styled in a way that makes them feel new and of right now. Plus, it adds new items every day.

This legendary NYC vintage shop counts Rhianna as a fan, so you know it’s good right off the bat. Here you’ll find some of the most sought-after ‘90s gear, from authentic Sade and Selena concert T-shirts to exclusive collabs from Nike, Gucci, and Timberland.

Na Nin

Na Nin is unique in that it actually has two locations in Richmond, Virginia, along with a really beautiful site, that stock a handful of familiar independent lines. But if you’re looking for vintage, Na Nin’s selection only lives on Instagram. Expect a constant, A+ stock of denim and easy basics, perfect for a minimal wardrobe.

While the the best part of this fun shop is probably all of the ‘80s and ‘90s jewelry (like these gorgeous gold drop earrings), it also stocks a ton of rare, one-of-kind pieces. From these insane ruffle drop-waist pants to floral brocade duster jacket, you’ll never see another person with even close to the same item.

Subrina Heyink Studio

This Kansas City, Missouri-based shop is only a month old, but the selection matches that of a seasoned pro. The accessories, from bags to shoes, are without a doubt the highlight; most are designer. The overall vibe here is very Sex and the City meets your favorite ‘90s music video.

VacationSF 4 Sale

San Francisco’s Vacations 4 Sale is basically a grab bag of classic thrift finds with no shortage of bright colors, graphic T-shirts, and big fur coats. Rare designer picks are sprinkled throughout the collection, too, like these Saint Laurent sunnies or this silk Dior shirt.

Little Good Shop

Based in Austin, Texas, Little Good Shop gives off the ‘90s version of that model off-duty look; think silk dresses, loose blouses, and a fair share of plaid minis. Expect a really thoughtfully curated selection of one-of-a-kind pieces.
