Belk Is the Next Department Store to Stop Carrying Ivanka Trump Online

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

First Nordstrom, then Neiman Marcus. Now, it looks like even more companies targeted by the #GrabYourWallet boycott campaign are distancing themselves from Ivanka Trump.

Over the weekend, Belk, a department store chain with around 300 locations in 16 states, took down all products from the Ivanka Trump line from its website.

A spokesperson for Belk gives Racked a statement (not unlike Nordstrom’s comment on dropping Ivanka Trump items), writing over email, “We continually review our assortment and the performance of the brands we carry. And we make adjustments as part of our normal course of business operations.”

Shannon Coulter, one of the organizers of the #GrabYourWallet campaign who initially tipped Racked off to Ivanka Trump products disappearing from Belk, tells Racked that the Charlotte-based Belk previously sold 30 different pieces from the label online.

It remains unclear if the Ivanka Trump label is still being sold in brick-and-mortar stores. Racked called several Belk stores in Florida earlier this morning; store managers said the line wasn’t currently available in smaller doors. A manager at the South Park store in Charlotte, North Carolina, a larger Belk location, confirmed it was still carrying dresses and coats.

Belk offered the following statement to its customers via its Facebook page:

“We want to thank all of you who have reached out to express your views about Ivanka Trump branded merchandise sold by Belk. We welcome and pay close attention to feedback from our customers. We continually review our assortment and the performance of the brands we carry. We make adjustments as part of our normal course of business operations. In this regard, we are no longer carrying Ivanka Trump branded merchandise on our website, but are continuing to offer the brand at our flagship stores.”
