The scene: You, a woman, enter a conference room wearing a blazer. The heat is on, and it’s hot. You go to push up your sleeves but they fall right back down, because this is a blazer and that’s what blazer sleeves do. You slowly roll each sleeve up. Now you’re done and ready to start this meeting, but in the amount of time that took, an annoying colleague started talking, and you have to wait for him to finish.
Do any of the details from this fictitious scenario that is not at all representative of my real life sound familiar to you? If you can’t relate to any of that (maybe your office is a pleasant 68 degrees), you can at least probably agree that most women’s suits aren’t very functional.
Well, here’s some progress in that area: The California-based brand The Art of the Gentlewoman just launched a small capsule collection centered around one suit, and the jacket has one exceptional detail: a knit cuff in the inside of the arm that keeps sleeves in place when you scrunch them. It’s genius, really, and unclear why no one thought of this before.
You can buy the whole set — which is meant to be worn loose and slouchy — on the brand’s website. It’s a really specific look (not everyone call pull off such a cajzh suit), but if you’re curious, definitely try that smart-ass blazer and start your meetings on time.
