Rihanna can wear whatever she wants; this is a fact. So if she wanted to, she could have shown up to the Met Gala in the same old thing she wore two weeks ago and would have gotten a pass. But what makes her the best celebrity at an event like the Met Gala is that she cares enough to follow the rules: white tie and something that coincides with the theme of the exhibit.
Rihanna shows up to your dinner party with fancy decorative soap and a thoughtful dessert

Rihanna is one of the few (very few!) celebrities that actually showed up in Comme des Garçons, specifically, a dress from the fall 2016 collection that’s also in the exhibit. (Former Ambassador to Japan and co-host Caroline Kennedy, also a trooper, is wearing a dress from the same collection.) She could have done anything she wanted, but she followed the theme because she is perfect.
So that’s it, folks. Everyone can go home. Rihanna wins the night, with Diddy in a close second.
