Reese Witherspoon always looks great (especially in Big Little Lies), but have you seen her clothing and lifestyle label, Draper James? Some of the items — gingham sandals, A-line floral dresses — are super cute, and I can imagine a stylish person like Witherspoon wearing them. But some of it... some of it’s a little corny. I’m not the target demo (more of a Yankee tomboy than a Southern belle) so I know it’s not even supposed to speak to me, but things like this bunny sweater ($150) or this “Hold Your Horses” T-shirt ($38) have always cast a frumpy shadow over the label in my mind.
That’s why I was surprised to learn that Draper James is collaborating with Net-a-Porter, and even more surprised when I checked out the goods and actually really liked (almost) all of it. To give you a reference point, it looks sort of like if J.Crew or Anthropologie did a capsule collection on Southern style — lots of bright, feminine prints, from flamingos to florals to colorful checkers, and crisp white cotton and lace, all in both classic and more modern silhouettes, from rompers and A-line skirts to off-shoulder tops and maxi dresses.
Available as of this morning, the collection is definitely worth checking out if you’ve got any graduation parties, weddings, or other summer engagements to shop for. See some of our favorites below, and shop the full first drop now on Net-a-Porter.com (the second delivery launches June 5th).
