The Outnet, Net-a-Porter’s outlet offshoot, is great for two big reasons. The first, and most obvious, is that everything is discounted (up to 75% off normal retail prices). The second is that it’s technically “off season,” which means that it doesn’t follow the traditional fashion calendar that’s perpetually three months ahead. Instead, The Outnet sells spring clothes in the spring, fall clothes in the fall, and so on.
Today, the site launched its summer shops — three themed landing pages: Relaxation, Party, and Exploration. “Our customer shops by occasion,” a rep for the brand said at yesterday’s preview. Relaxation is all about bathing suits, caftans, flat sandals, and general vacation clothes; Party is centered around dresses and jumpsuits (a.k.a. what to wear to a wedding); and Exploration is all casual summer stuff, like shorts, sneakers, and tees.
None of this reinvents the shopping wheel, but it does make finding what you need, when you need it a lot easier. The subsections are simple to navigate and and divided up into a way that’s actually useful. Plus, did I mention the thing about the discounts yet?
