A lot of new things happened in the world of retail this week that actually felt special. Minimalist brand Land of Women released a nursing bra and celebrated by plastering New York City with images promoting the normalization of breastfeeding. And speaking of bras, one of our favorite lingerie makers just launched swimwear. Twin Peaks is coming back after 25 whole years, and Opening Ceremony is celebrating with some pretty great merch. And not one but two labels — new denim brand Warp + Weft and stylish workwear pros MM.LaFleur — made moves toward more inclusive sizing. Get the details on all of that and more below.
Land of Women came out with a nursing bra for all the minimalist moms out there. The New York–based lingerie label became the latest contemporary line to launch a nursing bra (on Mother’s Day, no less) that doesn’t sacrifice style for function. It’s already receiving some serious praise. The bra ($90) is made with a super soft moisture-wicking outer fabric and lined with antimicrobial jersey on the inside, and it pulls down easily for comfort and convenience. It’s classic, purposeful, and functional — get yours here.
Twin Peaks finally comes back this weekend, and Opening Ceremony has merch for it that you’ll actually want to wear. The supernatural crime drama that made it okay for TV to be really weird is returning after 25 years this Sunday, and of course there’s merch. The Habitat Skateboards x Twin Peaks capsule collection — including five different T-shirts with classic images from the show, like Laura Palmer’s prom picture — will be sold exclusively at Opening Ceremony and Habitat, both in stores and online, for $30. (Purpose Tour merch is out, Twin Peaks merch is in.)
New brand Warp + Weft is making cute jeans for everyone. Launched earlier this week, this new direct-to-consumer line aims to fill two huge voids in the denim market: inclusive sizing and good quality at an accessible price. The brand’s debut lineup includes classic, everyday styles in sizes 0–24 for women and 28–40 for men — and all are under $100. Learn more about the label here, and shop its denim here.
MM.LaFleur’s customers asked for extended sizing, and the brand delivered. The cult workwear brand that’s most popular for its Bento Box personal styling service announced MM.LaFleur First Addition earlier this week — a new extended size range to accommodate women who typically wear sizes 14W-22W. “There aren’t many high-end brands that target the plus-size woman, let alone the professional plus-size woman. But the truth is, she’s not niche,” says Sarah LaFleur, MM.LaFleur founder and CEO, in a press release. The collection — made up of some of the brand’s best-selling styles — launches on May 24th, but you can sign up for early access here.
Lingerie brand Lively makes swimwear now! As if the launch of its game-changing Busty Bralette only two short months ago wasn't good enough, the young direct-to-consumer brand announced this week that swim is on the way, too. You can expect a mix of one-pieces, traditional and high-waisted bikinis bottoms, and five bikini top options, including halter and bandeau styles. Each piece will run you back $45, or you can grab two for $80 or four for $130. (Good! Deal!) Shop the collection starting May 23rd exclusively through wearlively.com.
Staud teamed up with Net-a-Porter for an exclusive capsule collection. We called that Staud would be all over the place earlier this year — and not to toot our own horn, but looks like we weren't wrong. This capsule, launching on May 29th, will include 16 classic styles true to the LA-based brand’s relaxed, feminine style — think bell-sleeved blouses, wrap dresses, wide-leg pants, and bags — and marks the first time Staud has ever partnered with a retailer.
