Steve Madden’s New Platforms Are So Delightfully ’90s

Cue the middle-school dance flashbacks.

It’s been a long time since I’ve set foot inside a Steve Madden store (pun not intended, but it stays). However, the brand’s latest collection — which is so ’90s that I can actually feel what it’s like to have braces again — is temptation enough to stop by, or at least spend a bit of time on the website.

The drop includes versions of the platforms you and I probably wore to our respective 8th grade dances, like these, or maybe these if your mom let you wear a heel that high. And while I’m all for reliving the awkwardness of my youth through a pair of black velvet platforms, these 1970s by way of 1990s sandals are my personal favorite because they feel particularly current, trend-wise, right now.

Most of them are currently available online for under $150, with a few that you can pre-order — including THE SLINKY.
