Dua Lipa’s music video for “New Rules,” which dropped less than a week ago, has already racked up over 10 million views on YouTube — and for good reason. In it, the London-born, Kosovar-Albanian pop star draws a heart in the condensation on a bathroom mirror. She walks on water. She pairs Urban Outfitters with vintage Versace. And she and her equally stylish BFFs teach one another why a sleepover with your buds is the best breakup cure.
Beyond everything truly good about this music video, there’s something especially satisfying about the nine different waffle-weave robes — all in soft pastel hues — that pop up during the song’s second verse. The colors mesh perfectly with the Art Deco glamour of The Confidante, the Miami Beach boutique hotel where the video was filmed.
According to stylist Mila Kastari, who worked with Lorenzo Posocco to style the project, finding the right robes was a unique challenge. “Since I wanted most of them to match in textiles and needed nine of them, I ended up having to source around,” she says. In the end, most of them came from the nightwear section at Macy’s — including the classic white version Lipa wears, a super-affordable find at $39.99. (Several of the other robes came from Amazon, and the final two from Kastari’s own wardrobe kit.)
Lipa’s Charter Club robe is lightweight and breathable, ideal for summer nights unburdened by your ex. The patch pockets are large enough to fit the iPhone you won’t answer when he calls. And thanks to its three-quarter-length sleeves, you won’t need to roll them up when you “have to kick him out again.”
