A lot of #rare things happened in the shopping world this week. Take, for example, Nike's unveiling of over a dozen new Air Max 97 sneakers, released in celebration of the now-iconic sneaker's 20th anniversary, or the fact that Danielle Fishel (yeah, Topanga from Boy Meets World) modeled for a women's streetwear brand in 2017. Round that out with the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, the retailer’s biggest, most important sale of the year, which is now in full swing and open to the public. Get the scoop on all of that and more, below.
Nike unveiled all of the new Air Max 97s. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the timeless sneaker, Nike announced yesterday that it will be dropping over a dozen new colorways this fall. The sneaker has garnered a cult since its initial launch in 1997, and it’s rarely reissued, so this is pretty big news for sneakerheads everywhere. The release will start at the top of August with Air Max 97 OG black and white, followed by a slew of different colors, such as pink and beige, throughout the month. Nike will also be introducing a new version of the shoe, the Air Max 97 Ultra, which is said to be the most lightweight version on the market. Both styles will be available for $170 August 5th in North America at nike.com, with a global release to follow on August 17th.
The Outrage teamed up with Lauren Duca to raise money for Planned Parenthood in Tucker Carlson's name. DC-based feminist apparel company The Outrage just released a limited special design in collaboration with writer Lauren Duca, and it’s already raised $10,000 for Planned Parenthood. You may remember Duca as the woman responsible for that viral Teen Vogue piece "Donald Trump is Gaslighting America," which landed her on Tucker Carlson Tonight — where Carlson told Duca to “stick to thigh-high boots,” implying that a teen fashion writer didn’t also have the intelligence for political commentary. If you somehow missed the clip, you can watch it here — it might piss you off enough to make you buy a tote or a T-shirt. The tank tops ($32) are a clap-back of sorts, reading “I Like My Politics Thigh High,” and 100 percent of profits will go to Planned Parenthood... in Tucker Carlson's name. (Lmao.)
Your ’90s childhood crush (aka Topanga, aka Danielle Fishel) modeled for a streetwear brand. The brand Jennifer — a new womenswear take from Bobby Kim, founder of wildly popular brand The Hundreds — released a new shoot with the actress wearing its latest offerings, and it made everyone in the office Slack chat pretty happy. If you're cool with walking around in a sweatshirt with someone else's name on it, the clothes are pretty cute, too. From the cotton “weekend” shorts ($105) to the oversized T-shirts ($55) and hoodies ($150), everything from this LA-based line screams comfy and cool.
Margaux released a shoe that isn't a heel or a ballet flat. It's a slingback, and it's actually really cute. The denim shoe, which launched on Monday, marries the classic design (and comfort!) you’re used to seeing from the brand with a much more laid-back feel. Ringing in at $195, the slingback comes in all sizes and three different widths. Shop it here.
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is (finally!) open to the public. Everyone can shop the sale as of today through August 6th, after nearly two weeks of it being exclusive to the retailer's cardholders. It's a pretty big deal (representatives from the retailer are likening its impact to that of the holidays), because it’s your first opportunity to snag tons of (all new!) fall merchandise at a major discount. Once the sale is over, the prices jump right back up to full price. Check out our top picks for clothes and beauty, and shop the full sale here.
