Madewell gave us a taste of what's in store for the new season a few weeks ago with the release of its always-anticipated fall/winter lookbook. Today, the first pieces of the collection are finally available, and they're cute enough to get summer's biggest fans excited about September rolling around.

The 16-piece drop is pretty much what you'd expect from Madewell, but in a way that feels fresh and not at all boring: good denim, strong silhouettes, and playful patterns and graphics. You'll find really fun detailing and textures on classic items, such as these velvet slide-on mules ($98), earrings featuring Matisse-like line drawings of faces ($34), and frayed hemlines on items like this denim midi-wrap skirt ($89.50).

A special shout-out also needs to be made for these wide-leg grid-printed trousers ($118) and this army green cinched-waist jumpsuit ($138) — easily the two hero pieces of the release.

You can check out the full fall/winter lookbook here, which features the styles that dropped today along with the dozens more that will continue to roll out through January, with most available to pre-order.

For those of you who are not at all excited about fall, the brand also just dropped a ton of new summer pieces (there are over 300 new items in total), some of which are already selling out. See everything you can get your hands on now here, and shop our favorites below.
