Sure, street style’s not as big a deal as it once was. But that doesn’t seem to have stopped Giovanna Battaglia, who was out in full force at New York Fashion Week. The editor’s colorful outfits are the stuff of Instagram legend — and now she’s got a book, Gio_Graphy, to promote.
In honor of her rather hilariously named title, Battaglia teamed up with Bergdorf Goodman on a pop-up shop stocked with fashion finds from her native Italy, from glittery Gucci sandals to floral Marni dresses. So we snagged a few minutes with the new author to discuss the thing she knows best: running around in designer clothes.

What’s the last big thing you bought for yourself?
A gold sequined Marc Jacobs mini skirt for a party during Fashion Week.
How about the number one thing you’re most excited to pick up for fall?
Leopard and flower coats to bring some glamour to cold, gray days. I love the leopard coats from Gabriela Hearst, Sara Battaglia, and Michael Kors, and the flower coats from Prada.
What’s the most precious thing currently in your closet?
My ’90s Versace bondage top and my Alaïa leopard dress. They were iconic pieces from my teen years, so when I grew up, I finally managed to find them in vintage stores and was so happy!

You’re constantly running around during Fashion Month — in heels. Is there a particularly comfy pair you swear by for long days?
Prada platforms. You can live in those! They have a big chunky heel, but they are light and comfortable.
Lastly, what’s something you can do in seconds to look more stylish?
I like to tie my hair tight in a top bun or low ponytail — slicked back, with a center part.
