The 5 Best TV Fashion Moments of 2017 You Can Actually Buy

From Master of None’s designer polka dots to... Jon Snow’s cape?

Somehow, some way, Peak TV refuses to, well, peak. This past year may very well have been the best in television history, with returning favorites like Game of Thrones, Younger, Insecure, and Master of None delivering some of their best seasons yet, and newbies like Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale emerging strong straight out of the gate.

But if you’re anything like me, it’s not enough just to watch your favorite stylish TV shows: You’ve got to shop them, too. Fortunately, this year’s top series had plenty of clothing items I wanted to snap up ASAP.

In anticipation of Sunday night’s 2017 Emmy Awards, I’ve compiled five of my personal favorites that are well worth the splurge.

Big Little Lies

There’s much debate about whether Reese Witherspoon or Nicole Kidman should take home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie (quite the mouthful) on Sunday. While I’m still not sure where I stand, I do know that Laura Dern deserves to win in the Supporting category. As the career-driven Renata Klein, Dern steals every scene she’s in and gets to wear some pretty great clothes, too. I’m still not over her fringed 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater from episode 5, and while her exact version is sold out, this very similar style from the same brand is currently 50% off.

Insecure

Yvonne Orji’s Molly may get to wear most of the designer clothes on Insecure, but Issa Rae definitely gets the best accessories. Case in point? These Melody Ehsani statement earrings, which her character wears in the season 2 premiere. Bonus: At under $50, they’ll set you back far less than her (also amazing) Omondi sweatshirt.

Master of None

I couldn’t get enough of Francesca’s (Alessandra Mastronardi) wardrobe on season 2 of Aziz Ansari’s Netflix hit — and judging by the response to my interview with costume designer Dana Covarrubias, Racked readers felt the same. Polka dots are Francesca’s sartorial signature, and there’s no better way to get her look than by working a spotted scarf into your own closet. This is the exact one she wears in episode 1.

Younger

Asking the team behind Younger to explain how Liza (Sutton Foster) could possibly afford all her designer clothes on a publishing assistant’s salary is like asking Kelsey (Hilary Duff) to explain her shirt sleeves: probably not worth doing. That said, you can’t deny that costume designer Patricia Field does an awesome job on the show’s wardrobe; this Marc Jacobs dress Liza wears in episode 11 is a recent favorite.

Game of Thrones

While GoT isn’t up for any awards on Sunday since it missed the Emmys eligibility period, there’s no doubt it would’ve been a strong contender for Best Costumes. Michele Clapton’s designs for the HBO hit are works of wearable art, and while 99.9 percent of them aren’t available for purchase, Jon Snow’s furry cape is — because it’s actually made from an Ikea rug. You can’t make this stuff up.
