Feit’s Shoe Store Is Literally a Work of Art

‘Just Browsing’ takes a mind-bending tour of one of New York’s most interesting shops.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Feit is a small luxury shoe company with just three stores, one of which is located in Australia, where the brand is based. And yet the New York City stores, while small in real estate footprint, are carefully crafted works of art.

The mirrored walls make the tiny space feel expansive, while stacked slats of simple timber create optical illusions and let sunlight from the street stream in. The angles and edges complement the soft color palette as well as the luxe leather and suede of the shoes. Scattered throughout are belts, wallets, and other minimalist leather goods — but really, the main event is the store itself. Try not to get so distracted you miss the shoes.
