Here’s What the Non-Royals Wore to the Royal Wedding

Priyanka! Serena! Victoria! Oprah!

By now, we know that Meghan Markle defied expectations by choosing Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy to design her wedding gown. But Markle was far from the only American — and certainly not the only celebrity — in St. George’s Chapel this morning. Here’s what everybody in attendance who doesn’t have an official royal title wore.

Amal and George Clooney

Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney wore a bright yellow Stella McCartney dress and matching hat, while her trophy husband George wore a light gray suit and yellow striped tie. It’s been reported, but not confirmed, that Amal gave the bride advice on whom to trust with her hair when she moved to London: Miguel Perez. Although it was widely speculated that Perez would do Markle’s hair this morning, that honor actually ended up going to Serge Normant.

Oprah Winfrey

Meanwhile, little-known television host Oprah Winfrey also went with Stella McCartney. Her presence at the wedding was somewhat of a surprise — although Markle’s mother Doria Ragland recently visited Oprah’s California home to discuss an interview.

Victoria and David Beckham

Unfortunately, only one-fifth of the Spice Girls was in attendance this morning — and no, tragically, they won’t perform at the reception later. Posh wore a navy cape dress by none other than Victoria Beckham herself, while Becks wore a dark gray suit with a light gray waistcoat.

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian

The greatest athlete of all time and friend of the bride chose a blush Versace dress and feathery fascinator, while her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, wore a long morning coat.

Priyanka Chopra and Abigail Spencer

Priyanka Chopra, a friend of Meghan’s since the two met at the 2016 Elle Women in Television dinner, wore Vivienne Westwood, while Meghan’s Suits co-star Abigail Spencer wore a polka-dot Alessandra Rich dress.

Gina Torres

In other Suits news, co-star Gina Torres chose a springy pink dress.

James Corden and Julia Carey

The British TV host and longtime friend of Prince Harry’s reportedly also scored an invite to the 200-guest evening reception. Corden wore a dark suit, while his wife Julia went with pink.

James Blunt and Sofia Wellesley

The singer and friend of Prince Harry’s wore a dark morning suit, while his wife Sofia looked, to use parlance from his best-known song, beautiful.

Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford

British actress Carey Mulligan wore Erdem, which was long rumored to be the designer of the dress (the New York Times even briefly reported that it was).

Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre

The connection between Idris Elba and the royals is actually an interesting one — as a young actor, he received a £1,500 grant from the Prince’s Trust, for whom he is now an ambassador. (Elba’s fiancée is, of course, in Gucci.)

Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley

The husband-and-wife duo, both British actors, arrived at the royal wedding with Riley wearing new label The Vampire’s Wife and Hardy sporting a very naked head.

Joss Stone

British singer Joss Stone wore a white floral dress, while also chewing gum and possibly attempting to steal a flower from the archway. Reminder: This is the chillest royal wedding of all time.
