Today's the slated launch date for the Yeezy Season 2 footwear collection, which is not to be confused with this coming Saturday's Yeezy Boost 750 launch. This Yeezy Season 2 drop is unaffiliated with Adidas, which is now strictly handling the Yeezy Boost sneaker releases, according to Footwear News.

These shoes are decidedly not sneakers, featuring sandals and boots with 4.5-inch heels. The collection starts at $445 for minimalist suede sandals and tops out at $995 for knit knee-high toe-less boots. In non-heel offerings, there's also a military crepe boot available in men's and women's sizes. All the shoes are made in Italy except the crepe boot, which is made in Spain.

Vogue has it that the collection will be sold online at yeezysupply.com (which appears to be inaccessible to the public right now). Racked compiled a list of stores that are carrying Yeezy Season 2 footwear, according to sources like WWD and Footwear News:

Kanye West is launching Yeezy Season 2 footwear on Monday, a collection that includes $595 lucite heels and $895 knit boots that isn't affiliated with Adidas. Monday is also the launch date for the Yeezy Season 2 zine, which Kanye previewed back in February on Twitter and with a special zine release party. Because zines, clearly, are fashion's new favorite thing.

The zine for Season 2, like the Yeezy Season 1 zine, is again shot by photographer Jackie Nickerson with plenty of nakedness once again. It's also going to be the cheapest thing available in the Yeezy drop, at a whopping $80 — for a paper magazine.

Funny, though: Wasn't the Yeezy Season 1 zine print free, as in zero dollars?

Also, some but not all of the zines are signed by Kanye himself, according to Kanye.

On the resale market, also consider that someone is trying to sell the unreleased $80 Season Two zine on eBay for $395 and another eBayer already sold one for $200. A full list of stores selling the zine is available here.

Get up close and personal with the latest pictures of Kanye's Yeezy Season 2 boots, due out in February 2016. According to Complex, the new boot features a crepe outsole but overall look pretty much the same as the boots in Yeezy Season 1 — a critique that also can be applied to many of the other new pieces. The boots will not be manufactured by Adidas (the same can be said of the rest of the collection) and will be produced in Italy.

There's no confirmation on what the boots will be selling for yet, but if it's anything like Yeezy Season 1, they won't come cheap. Not that that drove away many fans: the first Yeezy collection sold out pretty much everywhere it was stocked and most retailers confirmed that they'd be stocking the next collection as well, even though Adidas would no longer be involved in the production of the collection.

On the eve of the release of his first collection, Kanye West has released a 19 minute short film centered around the making of Yeezy Season 2. The film follows the rapper and designer throughout every step of the journey, from conception to showing the line on the runway in New York City.

The film shows the intricate process that goes into creating a collection and there are scenes of the garments being mapped out on a computer, close-ups of people working at sewing machines, prints being applied to camo shirts, and stylists making sure that clothes hang just right on models. There are also portions of the film that just show West and his coworkers sleeping in the industrial studio where they worked on the collection. One bonus shot shows a dancing North West jumping around.

The film is completely silent, reflecting either the stark minimalism of West's collection or possibly, as Dazed guesses, an attempt to "draw a distinction between his music and his fashion."

Kanye West took part in SHOWstudio's "In Camera" live interview earlier this morning, and, as to be expected from the talkative rapper, there were plenty of quotes worth paying attention to. West answered a series of questions submitted by fans as well as industry icons like Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, and SHOWstudio founder Nick Knight. The interview lasted over two hours in which West touched on racism in the fashion industry, fashion as an art form, his family, and why Yeezy Season isn't as affordable as he'd like it to be. We break down the most important quotes from the interview below.

Kanye explains why fashion is the highest art form. "Right now, the highest art form is actually fashion. And what's funny about that is people in art look down on fashion designers. The most energy currently is around fashion because in music it's within question if a song is popular if that person is a really good artist or not. In fashion, if someone is popular it's because it's agreed upon that they're an amazing artist, they're amazing at what they've done. And people do the history on what their background is. Did they intern for Christian Lacroix? Did they work at Margiela for a period? They find out what the history is and see if that person is making a connection to something that is current, is relative, that's in touch. Fashion designers are superstars currently, too."

It's harder to make it in the fashion industry if you're not white. "With blacks in fashion... it took me being Kanye West to get this far, I was able to become a multi-millionaire and invest in myself because no one else would have, in a million years," the musician explained, highlighting the scarcity of opportunities for black people in the industry... If you're born black, if you make it to something like the Met Ball or the Grammys, most likely you've done ten times the amount of everyone else there to get there."

Kanye has strong words for people who don't like his Yeezy 350 Boosts. "I don't care because anyone that's criticizing mostly likely saw the 350s and acted like they didn't like them because they're racist and discriminatory. They're not only racist against black people, they discriminate against celebrities, people with multiple art forms."

Why his Yeezy Season collection isn't as cheap as he wants it to be. "It's gonna to take time to get there. This is what I'm sayin' when you don't have the right tools... This is the question that everybody asks. It's like, if you had the Céline design team, the Nike design studio, and the Zara factory could you do everything that you thought you could do? What would everyone's answer be to that? Yes. But if you don't have that Céline outerwear person, that factory, and you don't have the entire adidas studio—let me be politically correct—and you don't have the marketing team and you don't have the sales team you can only do what you can do. We're doing a lot with what we have. What we have is the highest level of communication that has ever happened in human existence."

Does he think he'll be remembered as one of fashion's greatest designers? (Spoiler alert: an emphatic yes) "Of course. I'm Michelangelo. Of course. There was a time when there were people sculpting better than him. But he made David. So as far as that question goes, is there a time when he can go on the internet and find a shoe people want more than my shoes? Well, go fuck yourself then if it isn't, and don't ask me stupid shit like that again."

How his family has changed him. "Three years ago, after this interview, I would've been on a train back to Paris to see the last of the shows and get that inspiration. Now, I'm on the first flight back to see my greatest inspiration, and that's my daughter."

Kanye West's developed a habit of following up his Yeezy shows with epic interviews with Dirk Standen. Last year it was for Style.com, and this year Vanity Fair landed the wide-ranging Q&A, which addresses everything from the future of Yeezy to Kanye's place in fashion to his 2020 presidential campaign. One subject Standen doesn't ask about, however, is Cathy Horyn's slam of a review of Yeezy Season 2. The whole thing is definitely worth a read, but as before, here are 10 of Kanye's best quotes.

The fact that the models were grouped by their skin tone wasn't a political statement. "It had nothing to do with race. It was only colors of human beings and the way these palettes of people work together and really just stressing the importance of color, the importance of that to our sanity, these Zen, monochrome palettes."

Kanye believes strongly in athleisure. "I think people just wear yoga pants and sweatshirts, and I wanted to make the most beautiful version of that possible."

He will one day open multiple Yeezy stores: "I can smell the store right now. I can see the wood in my head, this beat-up wood. I can feel the energy of the space. I’ve already embraced the moment of when I finally get to have my own store, which was always a dream of mine. So even though we do really amazing sales online, my dream is just to have my own store. And to have multiples of it."

He seems very inspired by his daughter North West. Kanye compared his growth as a designer to Northie: "But I almost feel I’m growing just like my daughter. I hear my daughter start to say exactly what she wants and to finish sentences and I think it’s like that. Like, maybe I got to finish a couple more sentences in the second one than in the first one." He also said in terms of inspiration: "I was just wanting the colors to fit together in this way, like where my daughter takes the four Play-Dohs and starts to blend them all up together."

Kanye remains obsessed with the Gap. He mentioned Gap twice in the interview, and shouts out J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler too. "I say things like I want to be creative director for the Gap, but I just got to give credit to the people who do creative direction at the Gap. I’ve got to give super-props to Mickey Drexler. I know he’s not at the Gap anymore. That’s a talent."

Kanye confirms that his clothing collection is no longer with Adidas: "Yeah, we do the shoes with Adidas and this past season we just did apparel on our own out of Calabasas with a small team traveling to the dye houses and making the patterns and just working 30 hours a day against all odds."

He's "definitely" thinking about running for President in 2020. "It wasn’t like, Oh, let’s go rent some jet skis in Hawaii. No, the exact opposite. I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do."

He's sorry to the designers whose time-slot he swiped. "I totally apologize to any of those designers and anyone that wanted that slot. I would love to send them some flowers or maybe wear a sweatshirt if that could help to make up for it. A lot of times I feel like Will Ferrell in the movie Elf. You know this big guy that wants to [join in] and his hands are a little bit too big. . . . I could just say please forgive me if I ever step on any toes, because there’s nothing that I would ever want to do or say that would take away from any designer, that would take away from anyone’s work or what they’re working so hard on."

He feels like the fashion world's adopted child: "I think the entire fashion world at a certain point sort of looks at me and looks at my family as a child of theirs. Maybe not someone that completely grew up with them, but like an adopted child that came in, like a 17-year-old adoptee you know [Laughs]. But still nonetheless like an adopted child. And I think it’s just interesting for them to see growth, and they can completely tell the difference in the way things were presented in the very first Paris collections to what we’re saying now."

The most important Kanye quote to remember: "Sweatshirts are fucking important. That might sound like the funniest quote ever. How can you say all this stuff about running for president in 2020 and then say sweatshirts are important? But they are. Just mark my words. Mark my words like Mark Twain."

"I don't read the reviews," Kanye West told the now-defunct Style.com after Yeezy Season 1. For his sake, we hope the rapper and designer maintains that policy this time around. Cathy Horyn, one of fashion's most respected critics, just penned a complete takedown of West and Yeezy Season 2 for The Cut.

Horyn wastes no time in laying waste to West's designer ambitions. The feature, titled "Kanye West Is Fooling the Fashion World," proceeds to crticize every bit of the collection. Here, the best lines:

"A great to-do is made over Kanye West, the Designer. Yesterday, I was embarrassed to find myself running up Tenth Avenue to his Yeezy show."

"Again, he showed hoodies, baggy pants, and beige under-things, as if time these past six months had stood still."

"A line of models appeared, followed by a second and a third, all of them in tights or leggings or stretch shorts and tops that looked a lot like Spanx."

"The military conceit was apt, given the mind-lock that Kanye has managed to put on the fashion world."

Then Horyn goes in for the haymaker.

"This second round of drab, broken-down basics proved he can't be taken seriously as a designer."

She goes on to say that anyone who continues to support West is a fool because "they wouldn't bother with this stuff if it were offered by an unknown."

Not content to stop there, Horyn has started retweeting bits of criticism sent her way on Twitter.

Horyn, one of fashion's most outspoken critics, is never afraid to ruffle a few feathers. She famously has been banned from shows by Hedi Slimane, Giorgio Armani, and Carolina Herrera because of her reviews. She also compared Oscar de la Renta to a hot dog, took a swipe at Alexander Wang, and called Tommy Hilfiger a hack. However, those designers have gone on to have pretty successful careers, and she recently apologized to Marc Jacobs for an unfavorable review she wrote 20 years ago. So, maybe there's hope for Kanye yet.

The last minute nature of Kanye West's Yeezy Season 2 presentation might have ruffled a few peacock's feathers, but it didn't stop famous people from penciling an appearance in. Such famous people included Drake, Courtney Love, Kim, North, and a slew of Kardasho-Jenner in-laws. But then there was also Michael Strahan? Last year Beyoncé. This year Michael Strahan.

Seeing as Kendall Jenner — model/designer's sister-in-law/famous person in her own right — got second row treatment, yet MICHAEL STRAHAN is sitting up front, there seem to be some interesting power dynamics at play. In fact, the seating chart for Yeezy Season 2 lays the inner-workings of the celebrity ecosystem bare, answering questions you've always asked like, how does Jaden Smith stack up next to Seth Meyers? And, can Andre Leon Talley compare to Lorde? Employing a close reading of the show's audience, plus a highly scientific method of measurement for objective influence (basically, Instagram followers), we've determined a definitive power ranking of this illustrious group.
