“Is anything in this store going to fucking fit me?” is a question Katie Sturino, the voice behind The 12ish Style, has to ask often. Shopping isn’t always easy, but it can be practically impossible if you’re a woman who falls anywhere in the “plus size” range i.e. a 12 or over.
As Sturino explains, too many of these shoppers have to settle for what just works, not necessarily what they love. That’s because brands produce way fewer options in larger sizes; and when they do make them, stores often don’t carry them, forcing shoppers to look online.
All of this when the average American woman is a size 16. Despite what retailers and clothing brands assume, says Sturino, “I want to spend money on clothes! I’m looking to dump my whole paycheck in your store.”
